Project Coordinator


Jim Hinds, MPA, is Project Coordinator for the Texas Alzheimer's Research and Care Consortium (TARCC). He is Past Chairman of the Texas Council on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, which oversees the TARCC, and Past Board Chair of the Capital of Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Scientific Manager

Robert Barber, Ph.D., is Scientific Manager for the Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care Consortium. He is Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth and an adjunct faculty member in the Surgery Department at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Of the 192,450 Texans residing in nursing homes in 2009, 51 percent had severe/moderate cognitive impairment, 30 percent had mild/very mild cognitive impairment, and 19 percent had no cognitive impairment.
